My work is created slowly over time, building up layer upon layer of paint and cold wax before scraping back, dissolving or wiping away. This process of excavation continues until a rich, deep, burnished surface appears, giving the work a golden, luminous quality. Months later, the painting continues to change and shift in different lights, revealing different colours, as if it were a living and breathing thing. Through this process, my work explores archaeology, the passing of time and history, with echoes of classicism. My palette is warm, earthy and enveloping; evoking a sense of the sublime. I immerse myself in natural spaces of land, water and skies and invite moments of meditative reflection, inspiring a deep sense of connection with something greater.
